Taking A Child’s Temperature

Just read a rather appropriate article on CNN.com on the highs and lows of taking a child’s temperature.

Why appropriate? Because the little one developed a slight fever a couple of Tuesdays ago on the late afternoon of the eve of the Lunar New Year and we were supposed to go out for a reunion dinner with my family. We were also a little concerned because it was customary in my family to go visiting to the various relatives on the first day of the Lunar New Year and we were not too sure if his fever would persist till the next day.

However, even with the fever, he was his usual bubbly self. Talking and playing very enthusiastically. And for the two of us parents, we were quite worried and kept taking his temperature every half an hour or so till he was quite irritated with the constant sticking of the thermometer into his ears.

I guess after reading the article, we’ll not be so flustered every time he gets a slight fever. Important thing is to monitor and look at the kid’s action or inaction. :)
